Macalester 66, St. John's 45

ST. PAUL, Minn. — January 12, 2005 -- Macalester extended its home court winning streak to 14 games by dominating the second half to beat St. John’s 66-45. Leading 30-29 a couple minutes into the second half, the Scots went on a decisive 25-7 run to go up 55-36 with 10:19 left in the game.

The game started slowly offensively, with SJU leading 11-9 at the ten-minute mark. No team led by more than three points after that until the intermission. The Scots led 28-25 at halftime despite being out-rebounded 10-1 on the offensive glass.

Erik Jackson scored 14 points to pace Macalester (5-8, 4-4 MIAC). Tom Conboy scored 12 points and Brendan Bosman added 11.

Matt Ohme netted 11 points to pace the Johnnies (5-7, 3-4 MIAC). Paul Henrichs added nine points and seven rebounds. SJU shot just 29% in the second half and 33% for the game.

Macalester knocked down six three-pointers during its big 25-7 second half run, including a couple each by Jackson and Will Moeller.

The Scots are 14-0 at home since a two-point defeat to Augsburg in December of last season. Mac has won its last five meetings at home between these two teams.

Macalester gets an MIAC bye this Saturday before returning to action Monday (Jan. 17) at Gustavus Adolphus. The Johnnies play host Saturday (Jan. 15) to Hamline.
