The Student Princes fall to 4-10 overall, 1-6 in the OAC following the loss, Heidelberg's fourth in a row.
The game was a tale of two halves. Heidelberg led by as many as nine points, 42-33 with less than :30 seconds remaining, however, the Crusaders posted four points on a lay up and two free throws by Brian Alge to make the score 42-37 Heidelberg.
The second half belonged completely to the Crusaders. Capital tied the score for first time since the opening minute of the contest 46-46 with 16:22 to go as Jeff Hager netted two of his ten points. Capital would then go on an 18-9 run over the span of 7:30 that was capped off by a jumper by Jake Beck who ended the night with12 points and eight rebounds.
Overall, five Crusaders posted double figures. Along with Hager and Beck, David Kalb scored a team high 13 points, Alge notched 11, while Jake Meisler added 12.
Kenny Gilbert led the way for Heidelberg with 16 points in the losing effort.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday with a double header at Otterbein. The women's contest tips off at 4 p.m., while the men's game gets under way at 7:30 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on www.capitalcrusaders.net.
