With Stout (9-3, 5-1) holding a 57-38 lead, the Titans' Jim Capelle, the son of a former Blue Devil, took over and almost singlehandedly made it a game. Capelle led all scorers with 24 points, but put down 19 in the second half.
The Titans (12-4, 5-2) tied the score at 65-65 with 1:37 left, but that would be all they would score for the night as Stout took a two point lead after Javonti Brooks hit the front end of two free throws. His second shot was missed, tipped by Terry Farmer back to Brooks who passed out to Kailus Coleman in the corner. Coleman drained the 3-pointer to give Stout a 70-65 lead.
The Titans missed three consecutive shot attempts, then fouled Brian Buck off a rebound. The transfer made the back end of the free throws with 26 seconds remaining. The Titans missed another shot, then sent Farmer to the line after a scramble for the rebound. Farmer gave Stout a 72-65 lead with 14 seconds, then got the final points of the game, taking a pass from Coleman for an exclamation point dunk at the buzzer.
Adam Chandler led Stout with a career-high 21 points, hitting 8-of-11 from the floor, 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Coleman finished with 11 points, Buck and Ryan Stangl each added 10 points. As a team, Stout shot 60 percent, hitting 30-of-50 shots, while holding the Titans to 38 percent shooting (19-of-50) on the night.
