Cortland State 69, Buffalo State 60

BUFFALO, NY — Cortland (7-4/3-0) scored 24 points at the free throw line as it topped host Buffalo State (7-4/2-1), 69-60, to remain undefeated in the SUNYAC tonight at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.

The Red Dragons led 35-32 at halftime and never relinquished the lead over the final 20 minutes en route to the nine-point road victory. Cortland hit 24-of-37 from the charity stripe and was 20-of-49 (41%) from the field. Buffalo State shot 22-of-50 (44%) from the field, and was just 11-of-20 from the free throw line.

Rod Headley led Cortland with 23 points and seven rebounds. Headley was 6-of-8 from the field and was 11-of-17 from the free throw line. Brian Kirchhoff and Justin O’Garrow each added 11 points.

Gregg Jones led Buffalo State with 18 points. John Lawal added nine points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Jobany Tirado scored eight points and had five rebounds.

Buffalo State will travel to SUNYIT this Friday.
