WAYNESBURG, Pa. — Following back-to-back second-half comebacks at home, the Waynesburg College men's basketball team was unable to withstand a second-half surge by Hood College, losing 82-77. The Yellow Jackets posted an eight-point halftime lead, but shot just 33 percent in the second half, compared to 47 percent shot by the Blazers.PrAC Hood Blazers

Waynesburg (6-7) was trailing 26-25 with 6:48 remaining in the first half, but went on a 16-7 run started by a three-pointer from guard Beau Wilson to end the half.
Wilson finished with a team-high 20 points, his fourth 20-plus performance of the season. Wilson also led all players with five assists and was a perfect 10 of 10 from the free-throw line.
Hood answered with a 15-2 run of its’ own in the first six minutes of the second half to lead 48-43. The two teams would swap the lead five times in the second half before the Blazers finished the game with a five-point lead.
WC would feature a four-point lead, 70-66, with 4:29 remaining in regulation, but would allow Hood to mount a 16-7 run to finish the contest. The Blazers would hit 7-of-8 free throw attempts in the final minute to seal the win.
The Jackets would finish a perfect 17 of 17 from the free throw line and post a 31-10 advantage in bench points, led by 15 points and eight rebounds from junior Ryan Bujnowski. However, the Blazers held a +15 rebounding average and scored 13 second-chance points.
Leading the way for Hood on offense was Sean Robine who scored a game-high 22 points (15 in the second half) and grabbed 13 rebounds. Robine, who is a 6-5 forward, made 6-of-14 attempts from three-point territory. Teammate Jesse Gutekunst led all players with 15 rebounds, including eight offensive.
Santo Provenzano, the Blazers' leading scorer this season, scored 19 points, almost five points below his season average, on 7-of-15 attempts.
Waynesburg returns to action tomorrow night when it travels to face Penn State-Altoona for a 7 p.m. tip off. The Yellow Jackets split the two-game season series with PSU-Altoona last season, including an 87-70 victory in Waynesburg. The game will be the Jackets' third in four games against a Penn State branch campus.
