Trinity scored the first nine points of the game and led, 47-22, at the half, before the Bears battled back to outscore Trinity, 45-33, in the second half. The Bantams boasted four double-digit scorers in the first half, led by sophomore guard Patrick Hasiuk (Enfield, Conn.) with 11 points, and held Coast Guard to eight field goals in 29 tries. Trinity senior co-captain guard John Halas (White Plains, N.Y.) scored his 1,000th career point on a free throw in the second hald, becoming the 21st Bantam player to reach that milestone.
Bantam junior forward Tyler Rhoten (Ridgewood, N.J.) finished with 16 points and eight rebounds, awhile Hasiuk had 13 points and a team-high seven assists off the bench, and sophomore forward Robert Taylor III (Dorchester Center, Mass.) added 12 points and three steals. Freshman guard Al Sowers (Monrovia, Md.) paced the Bears with a game-high 20 points and four assists, while classmate Jeff Prebeck (Columbus, Ind.) tallied 17 points, and rookie guard Grant Johnson (Grayson, Ga.) had 10 points.
