Thomas 72, Elms 48

CHICOPEE, Ma. — Elms College junior forward Danielle Dugre (Holyoke, MA) scored a team-high 11 points, but Thomas College held the Blazers to just three points in the final 8:20 en route to posting a 72-48 win in Sunday afternoon’s North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game at the Maguire Center.

The Blazers lost their fourth straight game to fall to 2-8 overall, 2-5 NAC. Thomas College won its second straight to improve to 5-6 overall, 4-1 NAC.

Sophomore forward Tammy Fowler (Rochester, NH) and freshman guard Samantha Davis (Perry, ME) scored 24 and 23 points respectively for the Terriers, who outscored the Blazers 21-3 in the final 8:20.

Following an 11-0 run that gave the Terriers a 37-26 lead late in the first half, the Blazers used a 5-0 run to pull to within 37-31 at intermission.

From there, however, the Blazers committed 16 second half turnovers and were limited to six field goals.

Freshman guard Michelle Fernandes (Danbury, CT) and sophomore guard Martha Arment (Lee, MA) added eight points apiece for the Blazers in the loss.

Elms College returns to action on Thursday, January 13 at Mount Holyoke College. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
