Wentworth 70, Anna Maria 55

BOSTON, Mass. — Junior forward Frankie Hall (Boston, Mass.) scored 19 points (on 9-for-14 shooting) and grabbed 11 rebounds to pace Wentworth (4-7, 2-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference) to its second straight victory – a 70-55 win over Anna Maria (2-8, 0-3) in a CCC contest.

With the score tied at 12-all with 13:19 left in the first half, Anna Maria used an 11-4 run over the next 6:33 to take a 23-16 lead. During the run, sophomore forward Quincy Nunnally (Westboro, Mass.) had seven of the 11 points. The Leopards clawed back with a 13-4 spurt to take a two-point (29-27) lead on a basket by sophomore forward Bryan Gaine (Braintree, Mass.) with 1:19 left in the half.

After Nunnally tied the game with a jumper at 1:02, the Leopards took the lead when sophomore guard Troy Ramey (Newport, R.I.) nailed a three-pointer and was fouled. Despite missing the chance to convert a four-point play, the Leopards led by a 32-29 score with 48 seconds left and held that lead at the break.

Hall came out of the break on fire, scoring 11 of 13 points in a 13-1 run over the first 3:42, which enabled Wentworth to take a 45-30 lead, to which the AmCats would not recover, trailing by as much as 19 late in the half.

Freshman guard Sherrad Prezzie-Blue (Norwalk, Conn.) had 14 points and seven assists, while senior forward Carmino DeMercurio (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 points.

For the AmCats, Nunnally scored 14 points, while sophomore guard Bryan Porcaro (Auburn, Mass.) scored 13.
