Lathan, who was named the tournament’s MVP, made 12-of-23 shots from the field and also dished out five assists.
The Braves (6-7) never trailed in the contest as they took a 24-11 lead in the first seven minutes and extended the advantage to 50-30 at halftime.
Lathan’s dunk at the 15:21 mark of the second half pushed Chowan out to its biggest lead of the evening (64-34) and the Braves cruised to the 16-point triumph.
Freshman guard Montino Williams (Hopewell, Va./Hopewell) was also named to the All-Tournament Team after netting 16 points and handing out five assists. The Braves shot 53 percent (37-of-70) as a team and out-rebounded the Presidents by a 37-28 margin.
Sophomore guard Jon Koch (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) led the W&J effort with 22 points and five rebounds, while classmate Brandon Studer (Johnstown, Pa./Conemaugh Valley) added 11 markers. Both Koch and Studer were honored on the All-Tournament Team. Sophomore forward Matt Vorndran (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) also posted 10 points.
W&J, which shot 46 percent (26-of-57), travels to Carnegie Mellon for its next contest on Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm.
