First-year guard Katie Morin (Lewiston, Maine) scored five of her career-high 19 points in the opening minute for the Nor'easters, who led 16-2 six minutes into the game on their way to a 32-20 halftime advantage.
UNE gradually pulled away in the second half, taking its largest lead of the game (55-32) on a pair of free throws by junior Kelsi Royer (Lewiston, Maine) with 6:31 remaining.
Royer netted a career-best 14 points for the Nor'easters, who shot 41.8 percent (23 of 55) from the floor, while utilizing an aggressive defense to force 26 Roger Williams turnovers.
Sophomore point guard Caitlin Elnitsky (Southbury, Conn.) made three 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 12 points for the Hawks (3-6, 1-1 CCC). Sophomore Shauna Campbell (Saugus, Mass.) came off the bench to contribute 10 points.
The University of New England (4-5 overall) won for the first time in three conference outings. The Nor'easters host Framingham State College on January 13 in a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 p.m.
