Methodist 76, Wisconsin Lutheran 64

WASHINGTON, D.C. – — Both Jonathan Jackson and Bryan Booth haven’t been difference-makers this season for the Methodist Monarchs. However, they both posted career-highs in scoring on Saturday as Methodist ended a three-game losing streak with a 76-64 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran in the Catholic Pepsi Classic at Catholic.

Jackson scored a career-high 18 points, while Booth scored 14 points as the Monarchs had five players reach double-figures. The game was tied 37-37 at halftime as Wisconsin Lutheran’s Brian Hagel drained six 3-point baskets. However, Methodist stepped up the defensive pressure in the second half, neutralizing Hagel and Wisconsin Lutheran.

Eugene Grant scored 12 points for the Monarchs (5-4), followed by Seth Thomas with 11 points and Robert Lee scored 10 points. Sam Porter added nine points for Methodist. Hagel paced Wisconsin Lutheran (4-8) with 25 points.

Methodist plays host Catholic on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the championship game of the Catholic Pepsi Classic.
