Maryville (Mo.) 74, Greenville 48

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Maryville University junior Carrie Snyder scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Saints women's basketball team to a 74-48 victory over Greenville College (IL) in their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) home opener. Maryville improves to 7-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while the Panthers fall to 3-8 on the season and 0-1 in the SLIAC.
The Saints got off to a slow start in the first half and led by only six points going into halftime. Maryville head coach Chris Ellis would get his squad back into their uptempo style of defense in the second half, and with a more aggressive and balanced offensive attack, Maryville would outscore their opponent 43-23 to coast to the 26-point victory.
Snyder added a team-high seven rebounds, two assists and two steals to go along with her 18 points. Junior Fallon Rehmert also recorded double figures in scoring. She only hit two shots from the field, but went 7-7 (1.000) at the line to finish with 11 points for the game. Sophomore Lea Feasline chipped in with six points and six rebounds. She also recorded a game-high six steals and five assists in the Saints effort.
Greenville had only one player score in double figures. Trisha Draege finished with 15 points on 6-7 (.857) shooting from the field.
The Saints improved on their shooting and posted a 40.7 field-goal percentage for the game. They also hit 28-39 (.718) from the charity stripe, while forcing a total of 30 Greenville turnovers. The Panthers shot only 31.1 percent from the field, including 12.5 percent (1-8) from behind the arc, and finished 19-37 (.514) from the free throw line.
Maryville will look to remain undefeated in the SLIAC and extend their win streak to three games when they take on conference rival Fontbonne University on Wednesday, January 12, at 8:00 pm at home.
