Maine-Farmington 73, Elms 40

CHICOPEE, Ma. — Elms College freshman forward Amy Kasala (Dalton, MA) recorded her third double-double of the season with a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds, but UMaine-Farmington used a big first half run to post a 73-40 win over the Blazers in Saturday afternoon’s North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women’s basketball game at the Maguire Center.

The Beavers (7-2, 4-0 NAC) used runs of 10-0 and 19-8 in the game’s first 15 minutes en route to opening up a 34-16 lead at intermission.

Sophomore forward Kari Simpson (Wells, ME) and sophomore guard Karen Sirois (Augusta, ME) netted 14 points apiece for the Beavers, including a pair of first half 3-pointers each.

Junior forward Danielle Dugre (Holyoke, MA) added seven points in the loss for the Blazers, who fell to 2-7 overall, 2-4 NAC.

Elms College returns to NAC play on Sunday, January 9 when it hosts Thomas College. Game time is 1:00 p.m. at the Maguire Center.
