McMurry 70, Austin 59

SHERMAN, Texas — Cole Riggan broke the McMurry blocked shots record for a single-game and Travis Tennison recorded 18 points to lead the visiting Indians past Austin College 70-59 Saturday afternoon in an American Southwest Conference game. McMurry (9-3) won its sixth consecutive conference start to improve to 8-1 in the ASC West Division, while the Kangaroos fell to 2-9 and 1-7 in the ASC East.

Riggan swatted seven blocks to eclipse the previous record of five held by Brian Tudman (vs. Austin, 1998) and later tied by Riggan (vs. Mississippi College, Jan. 8, 2004). He also contributed seven points, six rebounds and two steals while coming off the bench.

Kelon Lewis nailed a 3-pointer--his only points of the game--from the top of the key to snap a 14-14 tie as part of a 7-0 run to help McMurry take a 28-21 halftime lead. The Indians never trailed after that and led by as many as 17 points in the second half.

Austin's Anthony Holman led all scorers with 21 points.
