The victory, ETBU’s first since an 81-75 win over McMurry on Dec. 2, lifts the Tigers to 3-6 on the season and 3-4 in American Southwest Conference action. Concordia falls to 2-8 and 2-5 with the loss, which was the seventh straight for the Tornados.
Tigers guard Cedric Isom posted his third career triple-double in the win. The reigning ASC East Division Player of the Year scored a game-high 26 points and added 11 rebounds, 10 assists, four steals and three blocks. His twin brother, Chris, had an equally impressive night – matching Cedric with 26 points and pulling down eight rebounds with five assists.
The Isoms keyed an ETBU attack that ranked No. 1 in the ASC entering the contest, averaging 81.8 points per game prior to Thursday. Joining the twins in double figures was guard Allen Colbert, who finished with 15, and center Charles Chevalier, who added 11 points.
Chevalier barely missed a double-double himself, ending the game with nine rebounds. He also had two blocks on the night.
The game marked the second time this season that the Tigers had eclipsed the century mark. ETBU scored 115 points in a 118-115 double-overtime loss at LSU-Shreveport in the season opener on Nov. 22.
Concordia kept the contest close until the final five minutes, when ETBU was able to make use of its depth and height advantage over the Tornadoes. The Tigers sent 15 players on the floor Thursday, compared to only 11 in uniform for CUA.
The Tornados also placed four players in double figures, led by Brandon Graves’ 24 and Valentino Maxwell’s 19.
For the game, ETBU shot 53 percent (45-of-85) from the field compared to 39 percent (35-of-89) for Concordia.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, hosting Mary Hardin-Baylor at 3 p.m. in Ornelas Gym.
