The win improved Delaware Valley to 4-5 on the season as the team matched its entire win total from the 2003-04 campaign (4-20). The Aggies will look to get to the .500 mark on Saturday when they host Vassar College. Valley Forge Christian fell to 3-11.
Delaware Valley shot 55.3 percent from the field in the first half as it raced out to a 48-25 lead. The Aggies scored nine points in the first three minutes as Maurice Slaughter connected for six and Josh Taylor had three. By the midway point, it was 30-6 and they upped the advantage to as many as 30, 43-13 with 5:20 to go before the break.
Delaware Valley extended the lead to as many as 31 in the second half and finished by shooting 53.5 percent for the contest. Eleven players hit the scoring sheet by Slaughter’s 17 points in 14 minutes of action.
Meril Branch added 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds while Mike Zupa notched 12 points. Isaiah Pinckney recorded 11 points, four assists and four steals while Randall Graves contributed eight points, six assists and three steals.
James Fulton and Brandon Mullen had 13 points apiece for Valley Forge Christian. Michael Wilkerson and Vaughn Carson reached double figures as well with 12 and 10 points respectively.
