NEW LONDON, N.H. — Chris Condon scored a game-high 24 points as the Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team rallied from a nine-point deficit in the second half to defeat Middlebury, 76-71, in a non-conference game on Thursday night in New London, N.H.
Condon, who was honored in a pre-game ceremony after scoring his 1,000th career point last week against Cortland State, hit 11-of-20 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds to help the Chargers (7-3). Colby-Sawyer also got 17 points from Tyler Fournier and 13 points and 12 rebounds from Andrew St. Clair.
Middlebury (4-6) led the game from the opening tip until 12:38 remained in the game, when the Chargers grabbed their first lead, 51-49, on a pair of free throws by St. Clair. The game, which was tight throughout, saw eight ties and five lead changes.
Middlebury was led by Clark Read's 18 points on 7-of-14 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. Adam Sinoway was the only other Panther in double-figures, scoring 13 points, with nine of them coming from beyond the arc (3-for-6).
Colby-Sawyer returns to Commonwealth Coast Conference play on Saturday when they host Endicott in a 3:00 p.m. game in New London.
