The victory gave 18th-year Head Coach Dave Madeira a career record of 255-185, tying him with current Athletic Director Sam Beidleman for the most wins by a head coach in the College’s athletic history. Beidleman coached baseball from 1970 to 1992.
Few of the wins came easier than this one, as the Mules (6-4, 3-0) reached the century mark for the first time ever in a Centennial Conference game and for the first time since toppling Elms, 115-68, in last year’s Scotty Wood Tournament.
The Mules, who snapped a three-game losing skid, are also 3-0 in CC play for the first time ever.
Muhlenberg led from start to finish, making 13 of its first 21 field-goal attempts to open up a 32-14 lead 11 minutes into the game. The Mules did not commit a turnover until five minutes remained in the first half and took a 23-point lead (50-27) into the locker room.
Muhlenberg led by as many as 52 points late in the second half. For the game, the Mules had 25 assists to only eight turnovers and owned a 47-24 advantage on the boards.
Jeff Stewart led five Mules in double figures with 18 points and nine rebounds in only 18 minutes of action. Jimmy O’Brien scored a season-high 15 points, and Jimmie Riggins had career highs of 11 points and eight rebounds.
Ryan Bonda and Chris Pothering added 12 points apiece.
Jon Skvarka paced the Red Devils (5-5, 2-1) with 12 points and six rebounds.
