Millersville 86, Elizabethtown 72

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — Elizabethtown College's men's basketball team fell 86-72 on the road to Millersville University Wednesday night. It was the first time Etown played the NCAA Division II Marauders since 1998. Etown dropped to 6-5 overall with the out-of-division loss, while Millersville improved to 7-1 with its seventh consecutive victory.
Etown shot 45.9% (28-for-61) from the field and 80% (12-for-15) from the free throw line, while Millersville shot 44.6% (29-for-65) from the field and 67.6% (23-for-34) from the free throw line. Millersville held a 39-37 advantage in rebounds, and Millersville turned the ball over just 15 times, against 26 turnovers for Elizabethtown. Etown also committed 27 fouls against 17 for Millersville.
Etown's leading scorer was senior guard Jon Connor, who shot 8-for-12 from the field and 3-for-6 from three point range to total 19 points. Senior center Dan Keane tallied 15 points on 5-for-6 shooting from the floor and 5-for-6 shooting from the charity stripe, and he led the Blue Jays in rebounds with seven. Junior forward Brian Schreiber came off the bench to tally 12 points and five rebounds in 16 minutes for Etown, and senior forward Kyle Conrad scored 10 points. Senior forward Andrew Flynn scored eight point on 4-for-8 shooting from the field and pulled down six rebounds. Sophomore guard Brian Goodwin led all players in the game in assists with eight in just 14 minutes of playing time from off the bench for Etown.
Charles Parker led Millersville in scoring with a career-best total of 25 points as he shot 8-for-16 from the field and 9-for-14 from the free throw line. He also led the team in assists with five. Greg Testa added 17 points, and Anthony Abrams scored 12 points. Brian Jones scored 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for Millersville, and Toochi Udeinya led Millersville in rebounds with 12 while scoring six points.
Elizabethtown will return to action Friday, January 7 at 8:00 p.m. in the first round of the DeSales University Tournament.
