MC and the Tigers went to the locker at the half tied 35-35. The Scots pressure defense reduced Sewanee's 36% shooting percentage even more in the second period.
Maryville would slowly build as much as a 16-point lead and would settle for the 13-point victory to moved to 8-4 on the season.
Sewanee (5-5) was led by Joey Garcia and his 17 points. Jason Smith recorded 12 points and led the Tigers with 9 rebounds.
The Scots were paced by Sidney Ellis and Monte Calloway who tossed in 16 and 15 respectively. Raul Placeres added to the offense with 12 points and 7 assists. Jeremy Holliday was the standout on the boards with 10 on the evening.
Maryville travels to LaGrange on Saturday and Huntingdon on Sunday to kick off Great South Athletic Conference action for the season.
