As was the case the previous night in the women’s game, turnovers helped one team build an early lead. On this night, it was Dominican’s men that benefited from Concordia’s 15 turnovers as the Stars converted them into 14 points. The visitors built a 35-22 lead after 20 minutes and extended their advantage to 19 points on two different occasions in the second half. Concordia would be unable to come within single digits until a three-point shot at the buzzer by newcomer Mark Stennis cut the deficit to the final eight-point margin. The Cougar newcomers accounted for 20 points including 10 by Robert Lorenzen, five by DaWaun Wells, three by Stennis and two by Tim Howard. Bobby Smith led the Cougars with 13 points and eight rebounds while Ocie Peet led Dominican with 18 points and 14 rebounds.
