The loss marks the Blazers fourth straight—the longest such stretch in their history—while Salisbury improves to 5-5. Santo Provenzano led four Blazers in double-digits with 13 points while David Wilson and Sean Robine each had 11 and Jesse Gutekunst, who received the first start of his career, had 10.
Segun Odumeru led the Sea Gulls with 21 points and Justin Rice chipped in with 13 off the bench.
After trailing by three, 38-35, at the half, Hood tied the game for the third and final time at 42-42 with 17:30 remaining when Darnell Edmonds nailed a trey off an assist from Wilson. That, however, would be as close as the Blazers would get to the lead as Salisbury went on a game-deciding 15-4 run over the next eight minutes, 11 seconds to take a 57-46 lead. During that stretch, Hood turned the ball over seven times and missed five of seven shots from the floor.
Hood would get no closer than seven—57-50, after a Gutekunst jumper with 7:43 remaining—the rest of the way.
The Sea Gulls shot 49.1 percent from the floor and hit 7-of-17 3-pointers (41.2 percent). Each team had 31 rebounds with Odumeru pulling down a game-high six boards while four Blazers had five each.
Hood will look to end its losing streak this weekend in the Hilton Garden Inn/Jackson Classic in Washington, Pa. The Blazers will take on the hosts, Washington & Jefferson, at 8 p.m. Friday and will play again at either 6 or 8 p.m. on Saturday against Albright or Chowan.
