ROCHESTER, NY — Four players contributed to a 19-4 run early in the second half as the University of Rochester pulled away for a 77-62 victory over visiting RIT at the Palestra.

Brendan McAllister sank two three point goals in the burst while Seth Hauben and Jon Onyiriuka scored four points apiece. UR (7-2) pulled away from a 39-all tie to take a 56-43 lead with 8:48 left. RIT (4-4) never got it below double figures after that.

Hauben led all scorers with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Onyiriuka finished with 13 points and 10 boards. Joe Canty scored 12 points for UR and Gabe Perez added 10 points, six rebounds, and nine assists in his first game this season.

Kyle Goff scored a season’s high 20 points for RIT. Sean Murphy added 15 points.

RIT held a 32-31 lead at halftime, holding UR to 35% shooting from the floor and out-rebounding the Yellowjackets, 24-18.

The Tigers went cold in the second half, sinking only four baskets in the first 15 minutes. RIT shot 27% from the field in the second half (9 of 33). UR out-rebounded RIT, 28-14, in the second half and 46-38 for the game.

A jumper by Jesse Foote tied the sore at 39-all. Hauben sank two layups within 40 seconds to ignite the game-turning run.
