Ripon Men Beat St. Norbert, Win Sixth Straight
RIPON, WI – Ripon College put four players in double figures Tuesday night to pick up a key 75-64 victory over St. Norbert College. The Red Hawks got 21 points from Tommy Becker, 16 from Bo Johnson, 12 points from David McMullen and 10 from Paul Wise to hold off a hard-charging Green Knight team and earn their sixth straight victory.
The Red Hawks, ranked 19th in the latest D3hoops.com national poll, improved to 9-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Midwest Conference. St. Norbert College fell to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The two teams battled back and forth throughout the first half with the Red Hawks grabbing a 33-25 advantage at the intermission. St. Norbert made an early rally in the second half, but Ripon came back and held as much as a 21-point advantage before earning the 11-point victory.
As a team, the Red Hawks shot a blistering 52 percent (25-48), 50 percent (8-16) from long range and 68 percent (17-25) from the free throw line. The Red Hawks had 40 rebounds, 18 assists, three blocked shots and six steals.
St. Norbert had four players in double figures with Aaron Faulkner leading the way with 16 points. Brandon Hansen had 12 points, while Eric DeJardine and Jason Adair had 11 points each. As a team, the Green Knights shot 33 percent (23-68) from the field, 30 percent (9-30) from behind the arc and 90 percent (9-10) from the charity stripe. St. Norbert had 28 rebounds, 12 assists, two blocked shots and five steals.
The Red Hawks get back on the court on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Carroll College. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
