Kenny converted a jump hook over DYC’s 6’7 Justin Cooke with :53 remaining to give the Hawks a 61-60 lead. The senior then stole the ball away from DYC’s Kyle Ward on the Spartans next possession while Hilbert guards Sam Gioia and Glen Ufland each converted a pair of free throws to secure the come from behind win.
Trailing 30-26 at the half after being down by as many as 10 early in the game, Hilbert fell behind by as many as seven in the second half. The Hawks helped their cause by shooting 47% from the field in the second stanza, including four of ten from beyond the arc.
Gioia led all scorers with 17 points and chipped in with five assists while Dallas Reinard added 11 for the winners. Ross King led DYC with 16 points and nine rebounds.
