Alvernia shot just 14-of-36 (.389) from the free throw line while Ramapo played their up-tempo style and shot 60 percent from the floor including a blazing 26-for-36 (.722) first-half performance. The Roadrunners led 62-41 at the half, and held their biggest advantage, a 26-point spread, with 10:33 left in the game.
Ramapo scored the first four points of the game and Alvernia missed a few short range shots to stay with the Roadrunners early as the guests took a 9-2 lead on Wilson’s layup with just over two minutes gone. Alvernia closed to within four points a few times in the opening five minutes, but Ramapo pushed the lead to double figures at 20-10 and held its largest lead of the half, a 22-point edge with 1:44 left. Wilson scored a bucket for the guests with 1:10 left in the half for a 62-41 lead and Alvernia missed six straight free throws to end the half.
Alvernia cut the gap to 16 points with 18 minutes left in the game, but could get no closer and the Roadrunners cruised to the 17-point victory. Alvernia junior Lamar Brickus reached double-figures for the Crusader with 19 and Chris Talley added 16.
Alvernia will return to the conference schedule on Thursday when its hosts Marywood University in a 7:00 p.m. game.
