SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — St. John Fisher (N.Y.) junior guard Sean O’Brien (Orchard Park, N.Y.) earned most-valuable-player honors as the 18th-ranked Cardinals beat No. 19 Springfield College, 79-67, tonight in the championship game of the Holiday Inn-Naismith Classic tonight in Blake Arena.

O’Brien scored a game-high 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting to go along with five assists. He also drilled 5-of-7 three-point attempts as St. John Fisher (8-0) converted 13-of-25 (52 percent) from beyond the arc.
