The Tartans took a 6-3 lead off a three-pointer by senior Jason Walters (Providence, RI/Country Day), and never looked back as they took a 14 point lead into the half, 41-27. Oberlin would pull no closer than 12 points in the second half as Carnegie Mellon went on to the 91-66 victory.
Carnegie Mellon had 11 different players score led by junior Clayton Barlow-Wilcox (Brookline, MA/Brookline) with a season high 23 points and recorded 8 rebounds. Junior Nate Maurer (Pittsburgh, PA/Linsly School) chipped in with 15 points and six rebounds. Senior Michael Divens (Trafford, PA/Penn Trafford) was they only other Tartan in double figures as he had 14 and dished out five assists. Divens also recorded eight rebounds. Divens needs just 29 points to become the fifteenth player in school history to score 1,000 points.
Carnegie Mellon led the way on the glass hauling in 41 boards as Oberlin grabbed 26.
Carnegie Mellon will be back in action Friday, January 7 as they head to New York University at 8:00pm.
