Carleton 62, Gustavus Adolphus 41

Northfield, Minn. — Kristi Colbenson tallied 15 points and nine rebounds and Megan Vig added 12 points and 12 rebounds as host Carleton College held Gustavus Adolphus College to six second-half field goals en route to 62-41 victory.

Beth Freeman added 14 points and Kari Christianson chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds and three assists for Carleton (6-3, 6-0 MIAC), who stretched their home winning streak to 17 games.

Kristin Kachelmyer paced the Gusties (6-2, 4-1 MIAC) with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Gusties were 6-for-25 (24 percent) from the floor in the second half as Carleton held Gustavus to a mere two field goals over the final nine minutes while connecting on 16-of-26 (61.5 percent) itself.

Carleton used a quick 7-2 burst late in the first half to take a slim 27-23 lead at the break. The Knights opened the second half on a 7-1 spurt before the Gusties responded with a Sara Boldt lay-up and Jess Vadnais triple. Carleton responded with a decisive 19-7 run, with Vig tallying six points and Colbenson five during the stretch.

Carleton held a commanding 40-28 advantage on the glass and outscored the Gusties 42-24 on points in the paint.

The Knights return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 5, traveling to Concordia College, Moorhead for a 5:30 p.m. contest. The game can be heard live on KQCL 95.9 FM or on Knights Online.
