Scranton 68, Puerto Rico-Mayaguez 54

BAHAMAS — Junior forward Bill Burke scored 15 points and pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds to lead The University of Scranton to its fifth straight win, a 68-54 victory over the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez in the Great Bahamas Goombay Shootout Sunday evening.

Senior forward Brian O’Donnell and freshman point-guard Randy Arnold added 13 points apiece as the Royals improved to 7-2. Sophomore forward Patrick Clabby contributed 11 points and junior guard Nick Alfier came off the bench to score 10 points and pull down eight rebounds, both season-highs.

Burke’s ‘double-double’ was his first of the season and the fifth of his career. The Royals will face Messiah College Monday evening at 8:00 p.m. before returning home to host CUNY-York College, the United States Merchant Marine Academy and Susquehanna University in the Radisson Invitational next Saturday and Sunday, January 8-9, at the Long Center.
