Junior Seth Cooper paced the Eagles with 25 points and nine rebounds. Cooper shot 8-of-18 from the floor, including three three-point baskets. Freshman Charlie Averkamp registered his third straight double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in just 22 minutes on the court. Senior Greg Blaska added 13 points.
Edgewood head coach Steve Larson played all 18 student-athletes who were on the active roster for Sunday’s game. The margin of victory was the Eagles largest this season. Edgewood led 34-15 at halftime and led by as many as 34 points late in the second half.
Ralph Rampellini was the Crusaders’ leading scorer with 12 points. Dallas committed 19 turnovers compared to 15 miscues by the Eagles. Edgewood also won the rebounding battle, 47-30, with 16 rebounds coming on the offensive end.
Tournament play will continue on Monday, Jan. 3 with the University of Dallas playing Finlandia University (Mich.). Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The Edgewood College Classic will conclude on Tuesday, Jan. 4, when the host Eagles will play Finlandia. Tuesday’s tip-off is at 7 p.m.
