FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Brian Jochim wrapped up his first season at Pacific Lutheran by scoring a season-best 20 points, but the Lutes ended the year with an 86-69 loss to Pacific in a Northwest Conference men's game.

Drew Cardwell finished with 16 and Kurt Oliver hit for 12 for the Lutes, who finished with a 5-20 overall record, 3-13 in the NWC

Branden Kawazoe led the way with 18 points as the Boxers finished their season at 5-20, 4-12 NWC. Miles Strampe scored 17 points to go along with nine rebounds. Brad Krichevsky and Kyle Motta connected for 12 points each and Mison Henley finished with 10.

The Lutes opened the contest with the lead, pulling ahead on 18-12 on a Cardwell three-pointer. Pacific turned the tide for good with a 15-3 run, culminating on a pair of Krichevsky free throws for a 27-21 advantage with 7:12 remaining in the half. Oliver brought the Lutes back to within two with his three-pointer with 5:14 left, but Strampe scored four straight points to start a 12-5 run and end the half with a 43-34 Boxers’ edge.

The Boxers kept the momentum in the second half. Motta opened up a 16-point lead for the Boxers on his jumper with 11:46 remaining and held a 17-point lead, 61-44, on a pair of Kazawoe free throws with 9:47 left. The Lutes mounted a short run over the next three minutes, coming within 10 on Oliver’s three-pointer at the 8:03 mark.

Following a Pacific timeout, Henley used a three-pointer to start 14-2 run to take a 75-53 lead with 4:58 left, virtually putting the game out of reach.
