Aundi Kustura led all scorers with 20 points to lead the Lutes (14-11, 10-6 NWC). Kelly Turner added 13 points, including three three-pointers. DeeDee Arnall led the Boxers (8-17, 3-13 NWC) with 18 points, 15 of those in the second half. Kami Shigematsu finished with 12 points, all on three-pointers. Shannon Janes and Courtney Jones each connected for 10.
The Boxers held the lead through most of the first half, paced by eight first half points by Jones. The Boxers took biggest lead of the half, 21-14, on a pair of Kristina Stevens free throws with 6:21 left. The Lutes, however, closed the half on a 10-2 run, fueled by seven Pacific turnovers and five points from Haley Martin, to take a 25-23 lead into the locker room.
PLU opened the second half by extending their run, using five points each from Turner and Kustura to pace a 16-4 tear and build a 41-27 advantage at the 15:12 mark. The Boxers responded by starting up their three-point guns, using treys from Shigematsu, Janes and Kristine Callan to cut the lead to four, 44-40, with 11:27 to go.
Pacific cut the lead to 55-53 with a Janes free throw with 4:11 left, but the Lutes used free throws to ice the game, hitting 10 of 10 from the line over the final four minutes.
Record book: Kelly Turner and Aundi Kustura each set an individual record and the Lutes established a new team record this season.
Turner shot 89.4 percent (76-85) from the free throw line this season, breaking the record of 84.5 percent set by Kelly Larson in 1988-89.
Kustura became the all-time career leader in three point field goal percentage, at 36.3 percent (78-215). She broke the record of 35.2 percent set by Kim Corbray (1994-98).
As a team this season the Lutes shot 71.9 percent from the charity stripe. That broke the previous record of 71.0 percent set last year.
