Hardin-Simmons 80, University of the Ozarks 76

CLINTON, Miss. — Hardin-Simmons’ got 25 points each from Zach Pickelman and Calvin Nite and advanced to the American Southwest Conference Tournament semifinals with an 80-76 win over Mississippi College, Friday night at the A.E. Wood Coliseum in Clinton, Miss.

The Cowboys led by as many as 10 points in the second half, but Ozarks took the lead at the 2:58 mark on a Josh Joyner jumper. Tanner Kudrna hit a jumper for the Cowboys at the 1:35 mark and he hit four free throws in the final :41 seconds to help HSU seal the deal. HSU was 8-for-8 at the foul line in the final minute as the Eagles had to foul to stay in the game. HSU hit 14 straight from the line in the second half.

Kudrna had 12 points and Mardochee Jean had 10 rebounds off the bench. He helped HSU to a 41-28 win on the boards.

HSU (19-7) will play Mississippi College at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Ozarks finished its season at 12-14. The HSU game can be heard on KAGT 90.5 FM or www.kagtfm.com.
