St. Joseph's (Maine) 86, University of New England 75

BIDDEFORD, Maine — Senior Jon Pratt (Gloucester, Mass.) scored 23 points to help Saint Joseph's College to its seventh straight win, an 86-75 victory over the University of New England in non-conference men's basketball action Wednesday evening at the Campus Center.

Senior Steve Monteiro (Ipswich, Mass.) recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Monks (15-10), who will host the NCAA III Independent Tournament this weekend.

St. Joe's outscored the Nor'easters 24-12 over the opening 10 minutes of the second half to add to its two-point (38-36) halftime advantage. The Monks shot 63 percent (17 of 27) from the floor in the final frame, and 52.5 percent (31 of 59) for the contest.

UNE junior Matt McManus (Cumberland, R.I.) poured in a game-high 24 points, including six 3-pointers. Senior Randall Thomas (Wilmington, N.C.) scored 13 points off the bench in his final collegiate game.

The Nor'easters, who were outrebounded 35-25, finish the season with a record of 8-17.
