Gallaudet stormed out of the gate with a 9-2 run capped with junior guard Matthew Johnson’s trifecta. The 21st-ranked hosts answered right back and knotted the score at 9-9 when Brandon Bushey knocked down a shot from long range. The Bison continued to lead much of the first half until the Spartans tallied a pair of consecutive hoops before Haney nailed a three-pointer in the final minute of the opening stanza, setting the halftime score at 33-32, in favor of York.
York continued to apply pressure on Jackson – who torched them for 32 points twice this season – forcing him to dish the ball out of numerous double-teams. The Spartans gradually built up a lead in the second half, extending it to double-digits when Chad McGowan connected from behind the arc with 9:42 remaining. York (23-2) would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.
Bison guard Sekoe White rounded out a solid rookie campaign with 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting, while Bushey and McGowan each netted 19 points to lead the Spartans. With the loss, Gallaudet’s season comes to an end at 6-20 overall.
