The Blue Devils led 37-24 at halftime, but Whitewater tied the game with 4:23 in regulation at 61-61, then took the lead and carried it to just before the final buzzer. With Stout trailing 74-71, freshman guard Adam Chandler buried a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.
Stout took a brief lead in overtime, jumping up on a John Nonemacher jumper at 3:48. The Warhawks sank one free throw to pull to within one point, 76-75. Stout captured a three point lead when Eric Heisler took a perfect pass from a driving Luke Loney for a 78-75 Stout lead.
But that would be the extent of Stout's scoring as the Warhawks worked the free throw line and made 7-of-8 free throws to close out the game. Stout did have an opportunity to take a lead. Trailing 80-78, the Blue Devils elected to go for the win, but a Loney 3-pointer just missed.
