Rockford 58, Dominican 46

ROCKFORD, Ill. — #4 seed Rockford College scored a first-round victory in the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference Tournament, topping #5 seed Dominican University, 58-46. With the win, the Regents (18-8) advance to the semifinals at #1-seed Aurora University on Thursday.

Seneca Evans came off the RC bench to tally a game-high 13 points. Evans was three-of-five from the field and seven-of-nine from the freethrow stripe.

Joel Carter hit five-of-nine shots on his way to a 12-point game, followed b 10 from Mike Jamerson as the only other Regent in double-digit scoring. Jamerson, Carter and Maurice Lewers shared high rebound honors for RC with seven boards apiece.

Jamerson also had four assists and four steals. Maurice Smith had three blocks and Carter added two more "rejections," as RC had seven blocks as a team.

Ocie Peet was the Stars' (7-19) only player in double figures. Peet also grabbed a team-leading six rebounds in te loss.

The Regents failed to score a three-point basket in the game, going 0-12 from beyond the arc. It was the first time this season that RC failed to book at least one trey in a game.
