Sewanee 74, Oglethorpe 63

SEWANEE, Tenn. — Sewanee: The University of the South


Sewanee's Spencer Rowland had a game-high 25 points as the Tigers defeated Oglethorpe, 74-63, here in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III men's basketball game at Juhan Gym.

Joining Rowland in double figure scoring were teammates Ben Campbell and Jason Smith with 13 each and Joey Garcia with 10. Smith had a double-double (13 pts./10 rebs.).

For Oglethorpe (13-12, 7-7), Russ Churchwell had 22 points and six rebounds.

Sewanee (10-14, 7-7) led by as many as 19 in the second half (48-29, 17:17), before a 21-11 Oglethorpe run pulled the visitors to within nine at 59-50 at 7:28. The Stormy Petrels closed the gap to four (67-63) at 2:14, but could get no closer.

Halftime: Sewanee, 39-27

FG%: Sewanee (52.8%), Oglethorpe (40.4%)

FT%: Sewanee (64.3%), Oglethorple (81.8%)

Rebounds: Sewanee, 38-28; top rebounder - Sewanee's Jason Smith (11)
