Basford scored 15 points and shot a perfect 5-5 from downtown as NYU raced to a 48-32 halftime lead in the University Athletic Association contest.
The Violets (15-9, 5-8) raced to a 19-3 lead to open the game and maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the contest. They extended their lead to a game-high 27 points, 84-57, on Jared Kildare`s layup with 1:34 remaining.
Overall, Basford shot 7-9 from the field and added two rebounds and an assist in 25 minutes. Ironically, Basford`s previous career high of 11 points also came against Emory (January 21, 2005).
Jason Boone had another impressive outing for NYU, scoring 20 points (on 8-10 from the field), hauling down seven rebounds and blocking two shots.
Jimmy Janeczek scored eight points and added a career-high 10 assists for NYU, which won its second straight game.
Emory (14-10, 5-8) was led by Jeff Hall`s 15 points. Eric Bavin had 11 points for the Eagles.
