In the first half, following two free throws from Baruch junior guard Louie Karis for a 15-14 lead, CCNY (8-18) went on an 8-2 run on a lay up and two three pointers to go ahead 24-17. The Beavers went into the break up 37-29, on 11 points from senior guard Avain Gourdine.
In the second period, Baruch (17-9) went on a 9-0 run to tie the game at 58, but CCNY responded with a 9-0 run of their own for a 67-58 lead with 6:25 left in the game.
Baruch chipped away in the final minutes getting as close as two (69-67) on a three-pointer by Chris Alesi (Xaverian / Staten Island, NY) at the 2:20 mark, but could not tie or go ahead in the final moments.
CCNY connected on 9-of-19 three-pointers, while Baruch struggled with 4-of-19.
James Boddie and Andrew Mungin led CCNY with 15 points each.
Cheick Fadika led Baruch with 16 points and six rebounds.
