More importantly, however, is the fact that McMurry is the No. 1 West seed because of tiebreakers going into next weekend's ASC Championship Tournament at Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss. The Indians are making their sixth ASC postseason appearance.
Keith Darden led five CUA teammates in double figures with a game-best 29 points, followed by George Freeman (26), Brandon Graves (17), Mike Moore (15) and Greg Fabry (10). Darden almost had a triple-double, getting nine assists and nine rebounds.
The Tornados (6-19, 6-16), who made 37-66 field goals for 56.1 percent and 12-23 treys for a 52.2 clip, defeated McMurry in Kimbrell Arena for the first time ever. The Indians now lead the all-time series 14-3.
J.R. Williams scored a career-high 22 points for the Indians, who allowed an opponent 100 points for the first time in 25 games. Elijah Bryant chipped in a double-double of 15 points and 11 assists to go along with five steals. Michael Qualls and Cole Dickerson contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively.
