(Carlisle, PA) -- The Dickinson College men's basketball team rallied late but could not catch visiting Haverford, falling 77-74 as a last second three-pointer rattled of the rim. The Red Devils trailed 36-30 at halftime and trailed by 10 at the midway point of the second half. They pulled within three at the 3:51 mark and played even with the 'Fords for the final four minutes.
Junior guard Brad Litchfield hit a three-pointer with 11 seconds to go to cut the lead to one at 75-74. Mark Gabriel hit a pair of free throws with 10 seconds on the clock and the Devils could only watch a three-pointer go in and out at the buzzer.
Gabriel led all scorers with 24 points as Haverford improved to 12-11 overall and 11-6 in the Centennial Conference. The win also secured the 'Fords a berth in the Conference play-offs next weekend. Johnny Elefterakis added 14 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for Haverford.
Junior guard Matt Keys went 4-for-6 from beyond the arc for a team-high 20 points. Travis Doll scored 13 points and had five rebounds and three steals, and Jon Skvarka grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Senior guard Jimmy Martelli matched a career-high, dishing out nine assists on the afternoon in his final game at the Kline Center.
The Red Devils (8-16, 5-12) travel to Gettysburg on Tuesday night for the season finale at 8:00 pm.
