ST. PAUL, Minn. — Erik Jackson had 24 points and dished out seven assists as Macalester topped Augsburg 88-82 Saturday in St. Paul. Jackson went 8-for-11 from the field, including 6-for-9 from three-point range.

The Scots end the regular season at 11-14 overall, 10-10 in the MIAC. Augsburg finishes at 9-16 overall and 7-13 in the MIAC. As the No. 6 seed, Macalester plays an MIAC playoff quarter-final game Tuesday night (Feb. 22) at No. 3 Carleton.

Jackson was joined in double figures by Wes McFarland and Tom Conboy with 14 points apiece, and Brad Liddell and Will Moeller with 11 each. McFarland added five assists and Conboy pulled down nine rebounds.

Lucas Olson-Patterson pumped in 29 points to clinch the MIAC scoring title. He nailed five three-pointers and also grabbed seven rebounds. Kevin Keto added 13 points and six assists, while Justin Kozlowski scored 12 points.

Macalester shot 54% from the field, including 62% from three-point territory (16-for-26). Mac canned 9-of-11 from behind the arc in the second half.

Augsburg jumped to a 16-7 lead over the slow-starting Scots. Macalester responded with a 18-7 run to take its first lead at 25-23 with 8:38 left in the first half. The Scots led 39-34 at the intermission. Macalester extended its advantage to 15 points at 59-44 with 13:52 to go in the contest, but the Auggies fought back. Augsburg cut the margin to four at 70-66 at the 6:30 mark.

It never got closer than four points after that. Up by four in the final two minutes, Liddell knocked down a trey on a Jackson assist to put Mac up 84-77 with 1:06 remaining. An Olson-Patterson three brought it back down to four at :53, but two free throws apiece by Jackson and Liddell sealed the win.
