The Rams (14-9, 8-4) jumped out to a 14 point lead at the half as they connected on 52.2% (12 of 23) of their shots in the first half, while the Owls (11-11, 6-5) shot only 32% from the floor.
The Owls climbed back into the game early in the second half as they picked up their full court defensive pressure, but the Rams hot shooting continued as they shot 50% in the second half and were able to maintain their lead down the stretch. Westfield was able to convert 24 Ram turnovers into 17 points.
The Rams were led offensively by seniors Jared Clark and Chris Feeney. Clark finished with a game high 22 points and 9 rebounds, while Feeney added 13 points, 9 boards and 6 asssits. Junior Ralph Sully controlled the defensive end with a game high 13 rebounds.
Westfield State was led by sophomore guard Ricky Ogboin who had 16 points and 4 steals and graduate student Vaso Jaukovic who added 11 points and 5 rebounds.
Tonight’s game finished off the regular season for the Rams as they wait until Saturday to find out who and where they will play in the MASCAC Tournament, while Westfield closes out the regular season on Saturday as they host MCLA
