Ohio Northern 78, Baldwin-Wallace 73

ADA, Ohio — Sophomore guard Greg Badenhop scored 18 points tonight (Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005) as the Ohio Northern University men’s basketball team beat Baldwin-Wallace College, 78-73, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at the ONU Sports Center in Ada.

With its win, ONU improved to 14-10 overall and 11-6 in the OAC. With its loss, B-W dropped to 17-7 overall and 10-7 in the OAC and lost for the fourth time in its last five games.

In the first half, Ohio Northern jumped out to a 10-5 lead on a jumper by junior guard Ryan Leib. A Thad Davis jumper at the 13:18 mark would tie the score at 10-10. After the Davis jumper, Ohio Northern would go on a 7-0 run and eventually led by as many as 12 points in the first half when Thad Davis was called for goaltending on senior center Mark Killian's shot at the 2:29 mark. Leib's jumper with two seconds left gave the Polar Bears a 41-31 led at intermission.

In the early second half, Ohio Northern would lead by as many as 16 points on a Ryan Lee jumper with 15:11 left in the half. B-W then outscored the Polar Bears, 24-13, to get as close as five points with 3:41 remaining in the game on a sophomore forward Tori Davis free throw . The Yellow Jackets would come as close as five points on five different occassions including the final score of 78-73.

Joining Badenhop in double figures for ONU was junior guard Nate Leib with 17 points. Senior Mark Killian and sophomore Ryan Lee each chipped in with 10 points. Killian had a team-high 10 rebounds.

For B-W, Tori Davis led the way with a game-high 24 points, eight rebounds and a tied a career-high with eight blocks. Thad Davis scored 12 points and had a game-high 13 rebounds. Senior guard Tom Harrington chipped in with 11 points. With Thad Davis's 12 points and 13 rebounds tonight, he now has 1,817 career points and 950 career rebounds to rank fifth all-time in scoring and fourth in rebounding.

B-W next plays on Saturday, February 19 when it hosts OAC-rival Capital University at 3:00 p.m. in the final regular season game for both teams.
