The win, coupled with Southern Maine’s, 88-87, win over Plymouth State, moves RIC into a three-way tie atop the Little East standings with the Panthers and Western Connecticut. All three teams have identical 9-4 LEC records. RIC improves to 16-7 overall, while the loss drops the Colonials to 19-4. RIC’s nine conference wins are the most for the program since the LEC expanded to eight teams in ‘97-98. The club’s 16 wins are the most for the team since the ’96-97 squad also won that amount.
RIC was led by sophomore guard Kamari Williams (Springfield, MA) who had 25 points, five rebounds and two assists. Durgin had 14 points, five boards, two assists and three steals.
WCSU senior forward Brice Assie (Bridgeport, CT) led the Colonials with a 23-point, 14-rebound effort. Senior forward Kimani Crawford (West Hartford, CT) chipped in with 18 points.
In upcoming action, RIC will close out the regular season at home against Keene State on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 4 p.m.
