Three Blue Jay’s scored in double figures as Elizabethtown (13-10, 7-5) rolled over the Messiah College Falcons (18-5, 8-4) 78-63 in a Commonwealth Conference men’s basketball game Tuesday evening.
Right from the start Elizabethtown took control connecting on several three point buckets opening up a quick 10 point lead. The Blue Jays shot an impressive 54 percent from the floor in the first half and built a 43-27 halftime lead.
Unfortunately for the Falcons the second half would go much like the first as Elizabethtown began on a 8-0 run to start the half and never looked back. The Blue Jays led by as many as 25 late in the second cruising to victory.
Jon Connor (Hershey, PA) had a game high 15 points for the Blue Jays and teammates Andrew Flynn (Chalfont, PA) and Dan Keane (Harrisburg, PA) had 13 and 12 points respectively. Keane also pulled down a game high 8 rebounds in the effort.
The Falcons had 4 players in double figures as Zach Wiernicki (Vernon, NY) had a team high 14 points and Quinn McCullough (Glen Rock, PA), Matt Henninger (Carlisle, PA) and Jared Yoder (Lancaster, PA) all had 10 points each.
Messiah will look to rebound on Thursday when they host the Greyhounds of Moravian College. The Falcons defeated the Greyhounds 77-71 last Saturday. With two games remaining in the season Messiah needs one more victory to clinch a spot in the Commonwealth Conference playoffs.
