In non-conference action, Clark University men’s basketball cruised to a 73-48 win over Becker College on Tuesday night at the Kneller Athletic Center. Becker kept the game close most of the first half and trailed by only eight points after a three-pointer by first-year David Bolduc (Saugus, MA/Saugus) at the end of the first half. Clark turned on the defensive pressure in the second half holding the Hawks to just six field goals and 22.2 percent shooting from the floor. Leading by three points with 18:49 to go in the game the Cougars used a 27-11 run to take a comfortable 19-point, 62-43 lead with just under eight minutes to go. Clark continued to play solid defense holding Becker to five points in the final eight minutes en route to 25-point win and their second consecutive victory and fourth in the last five games. First-year Pat Landers (Worcester, MA/St. John ‘s) had a game-high 14 points and four rebounds off the bench. He was 6-for-10 from the floor and 2-for-3 from the line. Sophomore Cory Szklarz (Worcester, MA/St. Peter Marian) chipped in 11 points for the Cougars. He added five rebounds and two assists. Clark’s junior Tim Dutille (Sunapee, NH/Lebanon) added 11 points and eight rebounds while first-year Brian MacDonald (Beverly, MA/Bishop Fenwick) was perfect off the bench from the floor, 3-for-3 and from the line, 2-for-2, for eight points. Sophomore Rich Logan (Middletown, RI/Middletown) led Becker with 11 points and five rebounds. First-year Jeremy Rivers (Springfield, MA/Cathedral) had nine points including 3-for-5 from long range for the Hawks while Bolduc ended the game with eight points. Becker fell to 2-21 while the Cougars improved to 9-14. Clark will end the regular season at home against conference opponent Coast Guard on Saturday, February 19 at 3:00 pm
