Albright 83, Moravian 65

READING, Pa — Albright shot 63% from the floor in taking a 53-25 halftime lead and went on to defeat Moravian 83-65 Tuesday night in the Bollman Center. The win, combined with Messiah's loss to Elizabethtown, clinches the Commonwealth Conference regular-season title and the #1 seed in next week's conference tournament for the Lions.

Justin Chestnut opened the scoring in the first half with a three-point shot to give the visiting Falcons a 3-0 lead. Albright then proceeded to rip off 18 straight points over the next five and a half minutes to lead 18-3 with 14 minutes remaining in the half. The Lions missed just two of nine shots in the run, while hitting four of five three point shots. Albright continued to pour on the offense, pushing their lead to 21, 30-9, on a fast-break lay-up from Mike Boles 6:25 before intermission. Moravian as close as 16 as Brandon Zaleski drained a pair of free throws on four straight possessions, but the Lions' advantage ballooned to 28 in the waning moments of the half, as senior Ben Gallagher scored six straight points to send Albright to the locker room with a 53-25 edge. Albright made 19 of 30 attempts from the floor in the half, including seven of 11 three point shots. By contrast, Moravian converted just six of 19 field goal attempts in the half. Matt Kieselowsky had 12 points to lead Albright at the half, followed by Gallagher with 10. Zaleski led all scorers with 13, 11 coming from the free throw line.

Albright's lead grew as large as 31 on a Trevor Deeter lay-up with 16 minutes left in the game. The Lions never allowed Moravian to make a run, as the game never got closer than 20 points until the final minute of play. The Greyhounds struggled from beyond the arc in the second half, making just three of 14 attempts. Albright shot 60% from the floor in the second half, making nine of 15 attempts.

Deeter led four Lions in double figures with 13 points, followed by Kieselowsky with 12 ad Gallagher and Elu Lawrence with 11 each. Kieselowsky added six assists in the game against just one turnover in 18 minutes of play. Gallagher had five assists and four steals in a strong all-around game. Deeter had six rebounds to lead the team. Zaleski finished the game with 21 points, and became Moravian's all-time leading scorer with his final bucket of the second half. Steve Wenderfer added 12 points for the Greyhounds.

Albright will close out the regular season on Saturday at Susquehanna, game time slated for 3:00. The Lions will host a first-round Commonwealth Conference playoff game next Wednesday, the 23rd, tip-off time to be determined.
